BALANCING ECONOMIC, POLITICAL AND SOCIAL FACTORS IN DECISION MAKING

Complex and interrelated challenges and related opportunities that impact multiple stakeholders present particular problems for decision-makers who have to balance economic, political, social, technical, and other factors. Public and stakeholder concerns over the environment and climate change and its impacts add to the pressure upon them. They raise a variety of questions that corporate and public decision-makers should address, including the adequacy of leadership and governance, contribution to the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals, the alignment of business and social priorities, objectives and desired outcomes, and the nature, scale, and timing of required responses. More attention should be given to the requirements for
effective collective action, coordination and collaboration, and the creativity, innovation, and entrepreneurship, and responsible leadership needed for integrated, sustainable, and inclusive local, national, and international responses.
