This paper aims to assess the compatibility between the global objectives proposed for energy transition at the UN level and the constraints of development economics. Specifically, it wants to understand if the universal model that is being followed is the best and most efficient, or if its costs are unbearable and, once again, can result in underperformance in the Global South. It delves into the problems related to decarbonization that emerged at the last climate summit in Glasgow 2021 and the relationship of this to the economic growth of countries that have not yet reached a mature stage in their economies. Finally, it concludes that the best way to create a successful energy transition policy is to abandon globalism and create institutional solutions at a regional level, possibly continent by continent. Only after achieving a regional consensus, we can move on to a phase of global interaction with the aim of the continents, with better living standards, collaborating with the others, rather than imposing their solutions designed from a limited perspective.
