This article explores various aspects of climate in India and their impacts. The article also tries to substantiate the fact that climate change is leading to massive economic costs to the country. It highlights the importance of creating lower carbon footprints. It justifies climate justice, particularly from the perspective of India for sustainable prosperity. The article primarily tries to explore the causes and effects of the direct impacts of climate change in India. It has been observed that climatic trends in India are intersecting with development trends in ways that often multiply risk and vulnerability. It advocates in favor of the utilization of renewable sources of energy thereby justifying India’s NDC target of 40% of total installed power generation capacity from clean energy.
